Kapalabahti (Kriyas)

Technique:

  1. Sit down in Padmasana / Samasana position.
  2. Fingers in Chin
  3. Inhale and exhale deeply 2x. After the 3rd inhalation, expel the breath continuously and forcefully out of the lungs about 15 – 20 times each round for beginners or more for intermediate and advanced.
  4. After the pumping, it should be followed by a long exhalation.
  5. The pumping is centered around the abdominal area and the throath, relaxing the shoulder and the throat.
  6. Repeat the procedure for 3 rounds and gradually increase.

  1. Cleanses the nasal passage, lungs and other respiratory system.
  2. Strengthens and increases the capacity of the lungs.
  3. Refreshes and invigorates the mind and at the same time stimulates the nerves.
  4. Increases alertness due to the rich supply of blood to the brain.

Counter indications:

  1. Females who are menstruating or pregnant should avoid this exercise.
  2. Those suffering from asthma attacks should also be advised to avoid this exercise.
